Astoria Boracay: An Honest Review of Its Pros and Cons

Astoria is a luxury beachfront hotel located in the southern part of Station 1, close to the center of Boracay. In this review I’ll cover the resort in detail…

Among other topics, I’ll discuss its main charms, its location details, its highlight worthy amenities, the best rooms, how to contact them, plus I’ll also cover both its pros and cons.

Once read you should have a very good idea of what to expect, and if it’s the right place to stay for you.

About Astoria & Its Location

Astoria Boracay is strategically located just a few minutes walk north of D’mall and just south of the spacious and peaceful part of Station 1, giving you easy access to the best of both worlds.

The building itself is clean white, with a modern minimalist design giving off a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and well designed, with lots of little luxuries to make your stay as comfortable as can be.

Without doubt the best rooms are those overlooking the swimming pool or the beautifully landscaped garden. The poolside can get busy and noisy at times though, so avoid rooms right next to the pool on the ground floor.

A slight downside of the place is that they don’t have a beach-side veranda to enjoy breakfast or an evening drink. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby where you can go for that though.

Astoria also has a sister hotel, named Astoria Current, located right at the other end of White Beach in station 3. It offers almost everything Astoria Boracay does, with the exception of a great location.

The walking distances from Astoria to different points of interests are: 5 minutes to D’Mall located in the center of Station 2, and 20 minutes to Station 3.

Its Most Noteworthy Amenities

The centerpiece of the place is their 20 meter lap swimming pool. Sit around or even in the pool and enjoy a cold drink or two from the poolside bar. Then there’s the beautifully landscaped garden with hanging loungers. A peaceful place to relax with a book or catch up with friends online.

In fact, you can connect everywhere in the hotel. And with a large smart TV in your room, Netflix and chill is on the menu as well.

Other amenities I’ll quickly mention are the relaxing spa, laundry and dry cleaning service, and the elevator to higher floors.

My Top 3 Room Recommendations

If you’re on a tighter budget, the Deluxe is a good choice. It’s their lowest priced room yet it’s still very spacious.

There’s the Honeymoon Suite for couples wanting a romantic getaway, nicely equipped with a private Jacuzzi, super king-sized bed and a private veranda.

For large groups there are rooms that can accommodate up to 9 guests, with all the same amenities as the smaller rooms. If these are already taken they give good discounts for having to book more than one room for a group.

Kids under 13 they get to stay for free in all rooms when just using the bedding already in the room.

What Guests Say & My Take

At the time of writing, Astoria Boracay is rated 8.5 out of 10 on both Agoda and Booking.com, and 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor.

It’s clear guests see it’s location as the biggest plus. And the hotel’s impressive cleanliness and personal service gets the thumbs up, as does the swimming pool. There’s a few guests who feel it’s a little overpriced.

Personally I think Astoria Boracay is a good luxury hotel choice, especially as even the lower-priced Deluxe rooms are spacious and packed with facilities. And not forgetting it’s great location at station 1 on the World-famous White Beach.

Conclusion & Summary

Astoria is the best luxury hotel in Station 1 that’s both close to the center and the peaceful part of Station 1.

Here’s some of the main points I’ve brought out in this review:

  • It’s in a great location, both for relaxation and for a little action not too far away.
  • The pool and garden are great amenities, along with the personal service.
