Movenpick Resort and Spa Review

Mövenpick Resort & Spa is a luxury beachfront resort that’s located at Punta Bunga, a beautiful private Beach. In this review I’ll cover the place in detail…

Among other topics, I’ll discuss its main charms, its location details, its highlight worthy amenities, the best rooms, how to contact them, plus I’ll also cover both its pros and cons.

Once read you should have a very good idea of what to expect, and if it’s the right place to stay for you.

About Mövenpick & Its Location

Its location, Punta Bunga, is a private beach at the northern end of Boracay Island. It’s a beautiful strip of beach which can only be accessed via a handful of resorts there, including the Shangri-La and Crimson resorts, and of course Mövenpick Boracay.

Mövenpick is a good choice to consider for both couples and groups. It has 312 rooms of different sizes, some of which can sleep up to six. The resort also has facilities that cater to families, such as a kids’ club and playground.

The place is designed so that you don’t really need to leave if you don’t want to. The rooms are built around a large pool perfect for lounging, and the resort has a number of in-house restaurants as well.

Being on a private beach, Mövenpick is quite a distance away from Stations 1 to 3, as well as D’Mall. However, this can be an advantage. There are only a few private beaches available on the island, and at Punta Bunga you can enjoy the beautiful sands of Boracay in a more serene setting, without the hustle and bustle of the main beaches.

The private beach experience also doesn’t mean you’re isolated from the action. Mövenpick provides an hourly shuttle to D’Mall from 9am-2am, and will get you there in just around 15 minutes.

  • Located on a quiet, private beach
  • Large, multi-level pool
  • Suitable for families, has kids’ club and playground
  • Good selection of in-house restaurants
  • Quite far away from D’Mall and most other tourist spots

Distances to some of the close by points of interests are: 5+ minutes drive to Puka Beach and Ilig Iligan Beach, 15 minutes drive to D’Mall.

Highlight Worthy Amenities

Mövenpick has a rather wide range of amenities. To start, Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire resort, and all room rates include a daily breakfast buffet.

There is a large, multi-level pool with pool bar, great for kicking back. And for the little ones, there’s a kids’ club and playground, kids’ pool, and also play room for toddlers and teens. You can also arrange for watersports activities like parasailing.

If you like to be able to work out even on vacation, there’s Mövenpick’s fitness center. And if relaxation is what you’re after, the resort also has an in-house spa offering a number of luxurious treatments.

The resort also has seven restaurants serving a variety of international Asian cuisine, which includes the pool bar as well as a beach club. All in all Mövenpick offers a very complete luxury resort experience.

My Top 3 Room Recommendations

If you’re on a tighter budget, the Superior with Sea View rooms are worth considering. You’ll still get a king size bed in a spacious room, with partial views of the ocean.

Couples with more cash to splash will enjoy the Junior Suites. They are extremely spacious, with generously sized private balconies. These rooms also have double sinks, and a bathroom with separate bathtub and shower.

If you’re looking for a luxury room type that can fit a family, take a look at the Sol Marina Villa. Fitting up to 4 adults and 2 children, the large, two-bedroom villa is located right on the beachfront. It also has its own jacuzzi, and private pool with sun loungers.
