Mövenpick Boracay Review & Its 3 Best Alternatives

On this page I’ll summarize the consensus of Mövenpick’s verified guest reviews. I’ll cover the main highlights, potential downsides, insights on its location, and whether guests consider it good value for money.

I’ll also describe and compare the 3 best alternative resorts. This way, even if you decide Mövenpick is not the right choice for you, you’ll have a good jumping off point to find other similar hotels.

Mövenpick’s Pros & Cons According to Guests

Mövenpick is located in the north-western tip of Boracay, also called Station 0. Its secluded and spacious grounds give the resort a peaceful vibe. Along the coast, the 2 km stretch of beach is its highlight. Only Mövenpick guests and guests from 2 other resorts can access it, making the beach feel very tranquil.

This slice of paradise feeling is something that attracts many people to the resort, and consequently something that you can see many guests rave about in their reviews about Mövenpick.

That highlight comes with a downside though. Namely, Mövenpick is a 15 to 20 minute tricycle ride away from White Beach & D’Mall. That’s where you’ll want to go to experience the core of what Boracay has to offer. Mövenpick has a free shuttle service though. So if you’re okay with a 15-20 minute ride, it’s a go.

In terms of service, luxury resorts are generally assumed to be great. Mövenpick’s strong suit however is its warm and personal touch. Guest reviews often highlight the staff’s dedication to creating a memorable stay, sometimes mentioning staff by name, which is telling in terms of the lasting impression they leave.

Another pro is the enormous swimming pool, quite possibly the largest on the island. It has different levels and depths suitable for both kids and adults, and it’s surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

The pool also includes a swim-up bar. Its atmosphere is typically relaxed and social, which makes it a good place to unwind and chat with other guests. It’s a popular gathering place during the afternoon, especially when the sun is shining and the pool is bustling with activity. For good nightlife, however, you’ll want to visit White Beach.

The 3 Best Alternative Resorts

These hotels are most similar to Mövenpick in terms of location, price range, atmosphere and guest ratings, but they have different pros and cons.

Crimson Resort and Spa

Crimson is directly next door to Mövenpick, still in the exclusive Station 0. It has a more modern design and its rooms are slightly more luxurious and expensive, but not by much. While a lot of people say they prefer Mövenpick’s pool area, the Crimson wins the vote for its delicious food.

The Lind

The Lind offers luxury similar to Mövenpick, but on a smaller scale. It’s located on White Beach, at the northern end of Station 1 which is quiet and peaceful but publicly accessible.

This location is a good choice if you’re looking for serenity, but also want to be closer to the action of Station 2. D’Mall is a 20 minute beach-walk away, or a quick ride when using the free resort shuttle service.

Shangri-La Resort and Spa

Shangri-La is known for its private villas, which offer direct beach access, private pools, and exceptional views of the ocean. They also have one of the best spas on the island.

Like Mövenpick, Shangri-La is also located in Station 0, and it’s a good alternative to consider when you’re looking for the ultimate luxury experience (if its price tag doesn’t make you fall of your chair).

Conclusion

Mövenpick is a good choice if you’re looking for a secluded location with a private island feel and don’t mind being a little further away from the main island attractions.

The 3 best alternative hotels are Crimson for its more modern atmosphere and better food, The Lind for its best of both worlds location, and Shangri-La for its the top-of-the-line luxury experience.
